If you have been injured in a car accident in Lowell or the Merrimack Valley, you deserve a lawyer who knows the roads, knows the system, and fights for every dollar that truly ends up in your pocket — not the insurance company.

38 years representing Car Accident Victims in Lowell

I’ve handled nearly every type of motor vehicle accident — from simple rear-end collisions to serious tractor-trailer crashes and wrongful death cases. I know the local doctors, imaging centers, body shops, insurance adjusters, and courts, and I use that knowledge to protect my clients.

When you hire me, you get me — not a case manager, not a rotating pack of people who don’t know your name. I stay personally involved from start to finish.
— Attorney Louis Haskell

Many lawyers brag about their “large settlements,” but they rarely mention the truth — that after fees, liens, and inflated expenses, the client often walks away with very little.

My philosophy is different. The only number that truly matters is what YOU take home. That’s why I focus on maximizing your net recovery, not promoting headline-grabbing gross figures.

In practice, my clients typically net about two-thirds of the settlement, which is significantly better than the industry norm.

Insurance companies are not your friend. Their goal is to devalue your medical treatment, minimize your pain, and use anything you say against you.

I push back — hard.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The only honest answer is: I don’t know yet. Two major factors are outside my control: how long you take to recover, and how reasonable (or unreasonable) the insurance company decides to be. A sprain case that resolves with a short course of PT will settle much faster than a multi-year injury with ongoing treatment. Likewise, some adjusters settle after one or two conversations. Others force us into litigation. What is in our control is you keeping your medical appointments and my team obtaining your records quickly. Once you finish treatment and we have all the records, we typically see an initial offer within about 45 days.

  • For people with no private health insurance (MassHealth, Medicare, Tricare), PIP pays the first $8,000 of medical bills and wage loss. For people with private health insurance, PIP pays the first $2,000, then everything goes through your health insurance. Copays, deductibles, and uncovered expenses circle back to PIP. It is a complicated system, but we handle that work — not you

  • No, other than telling them where the car is located so they can inspect it. They are not your friend. Once you hire me, you can simply tell the adjuster: “Attorney Haskell instructed me not to give a statement. Please contact him directly.” Let me be the bad guy.

  • Again, the only honest answer is: I don’t know yet. Until we know the full extent of your injuries, you finish treatment, we review all medical records, and we get the insurance company’s first offer, any number is just a guess. Once we have that first offer, we can have a meaningful conversation

  • Probably not — most don’t. But if it does, the case will be trial-ready. Your treatment will be reasonable and well-documented, and the providers we work with are reputable. We prepare every file as if a jury will see it, and insurance companies know we will take a verdict if necessary

  • Yes. Always. Your PCP is your medical “home base.” Going only to “accident doctors” creates problems. Insurers devalue treatment not overseen by a PCP and dispute whether your bills were reasonable or necessary. Your PCP’s referrals, records, and recommendations are gold.

  • Use a registered body shop. Don’t buy unnecessary rental car insurance if your own policy’s collision coverage already applies. Follow your PCP’s referrals. Avoid providers who create liens. And let us coordinate your insurance benefits properly. That is how we protect your net recovery
